Comments are back up on PLR Resource List
It’s come to my attention that some people were offended by my turning off the comments on the PLR Resource List post. I’ve turned them on for now, if anyone cares to continue the discussion any farther. I feel that I’ve spoke my piece, and will just have to agree to disagree with some of the comments. I felt that some of the comments weren’t in the spirit of this blog, or the helpful nature of that particular post, which is why I initially shut down the comments.
If PLR is something that you are adamantly for or against, I encourage you to discuss it on your own blog. I’m not interested in becoming the poster child for PLR. It’s a small part of my overall business, and the recent posts on PLR were due to interest from other writers.

Thank you.
While I have my own opinions and I do speak my mind, my interest wasn’t in offending people or causing upset. I think that my comments were received with heavy weight on the emotional. Knee jerk reactions don’t benefit anyone.
It was just a discussion, not an argument. I apologize if it came off as otherwise.
For those who believed that my comments insinuated that PLR writers are not good writers or that those who write PLR do not offer quality work, please note that I never commented that nor thought that.
I didn’t have a knee jerk reaction at all, if that’s what you’re implying. I really thought about the value, if there was any, of the discussion. And I’ll just have to agree to disagree with you on PLR and the nature of your comments.
Edited to add: James and I have talked at length privately, and he’s admitted that his initial post was worded poorly. And I have admitted that I do see his point now that he’s explained it more clearly to me. In closing the comments, it wasn’t because I disagreed with him. I just didn’t want to host a debate over the legitimacy of PLR. At the time, I saw this blog as a teaching tool, and I was streamlining the comments to reflect what I was teaching. After a discussion with a few probloggers, my perspective on blogging and this blog in particular has definitely been changed. So lessons learned all around and good vibes for all.
I think that PLR is one of the many ways for new writers to break into the business and while it isn’t for anyone it shouldn’t be held against a new writer (or even a seasoned writer looking to fill in extra work during the slow times). I will admit that I don’t have any experience writing PLR but it isn’t something I would be opposed to as a writer. I may have done this when I first got into freelancing on the web if I hadn’t gotten a start anywhere else.
I meant… isn’t for everyone… Sorry if I confused. I have a toddler trying to help type this evening.
@ courtknee - We’ll agree to disagree. I was extending an olive branch.
@ Nikki - I agree. We all start somewhere. I don’t hold that against people at all. I wrote PLR for a long time when starting out. I did move away from it when I realized the effect it has on content on the Internet.
James - Olive branch definitely accepted. And I’m sorry for this whole debacle.
Nikki-You know…the ironic thing is that I’m so busy with my original content work, I barely have time to write PLR. I know some people who make that their job, and PLR has helped me out in a pinch.
And my toddler loves to help me type too!
