Dealing with Deadlines

I hope you all have enjoyed the holiday weekend (if you’re in the U.S. that is). If you work at home like me, you know that it’s hard to make a distinction between work time and free time. I found myself working, or at least trying to work, for most of the weekend.

The last three or four projects I’ve done have reached a bottle neck at the end of the assignment time. It’s not for lack of planning. But family life, or other work, or my health have gotten in the way these past two months…which leaves me staying up way late to meet my deadlines.

Don’t get me wrong….I’m happy to be doing this work, and working at home. But somedays the pace I’ve developed just sucks rocks.

Do you take vacation time? How do you deal when you get off schedule? Do you ask for an extension or burn the midnight oil?

  1. Vacation?? What’s that? :) I was just telling a friend the other day that I promised myself when school started I’d get everything done between 7-3 and quit when kids come home. But we’re still waiting for my little boy to be accepted in headstart so he’s still here during the day, which means…I’m still working ALL..THE..TIME. :) Although, being sick this weekend knocked me off my feet.

  2. Oh man….I hope you’re feeling better soon. I foolishly went to a barbecue on Saturday night. It is making it s much worse today. Daddy is supposed to be Mr. Mom today, but he keeps interrupting me.
