Anyone who has spent any period of time working online as a web content writer knows that it can be a grind. At the end of the project, your creativity can be sapped. It’s easy to get burned out, but it’s just as easy to avoid it with a few simple steps.

Here’s what has helped keep me happy, productive and building my business:

-Since I only have a few hours to write each day, I try to work a little every day. This can be draining toward the end of a project, so after a large assignment like an ebook I take a day or two off from writing and off of the computer entirely.

-I take my breaks away from the computer and not on the computer. I used to visit forums or check my e-mail on breaks from writing. But I’ve found that it keeps me much more refreshed and clear headed when I get up and away from the computer. I stretch, walk around and leave the office at least every 20 minutes during long writing blocks.

-I resist the temptation to take every writing offer that comes my way. I used to overbook myself constantly and, as a result, I was always stressed, tired and overworked. I still go through occasional periods like that, but I try to balance my life as much as possible so I don’t get burned out.
