Some extra PLR selling tips

This has been an informal “guide to PLR” week. I thought I’d end the week with a few more tips on selling PLR articles and reports.

Tip #1- Set a cap on the amount of packages you will sell.

Limiting your packages to 50 or 100 licenses, or even less, offers a measure of comfort for your buyers. If they know that not everyone under the sun has the same articles, they’ll be more likely to buy. The more you limit your packages, the higher your prices can be.

#2-Don’t worry about competing with membership sites

If you’ve started to research the PLR already available on the ‘net, you may have encountered some PLR membership sites. These sites are appealing to buyers because they have a certain amount of new content delivered each month for a set price. On the downside, the buyer may end up with content that they don’t want.

You don’t have to start a membership site in order to succeed with PLR. And there are several benefits of an “a la carte” site that are appealing to buyers. They only buy the content that they want and aren’t obligated to pay a monthly charge.

#3-Make your PLR content part of your overall business plan

As a PLR content creator, you do your best to try to create content that appeals to buyers. But at the end of the day, you might not sell as much as you expect of a certain package.

That’s why it’s important to use PLR as part of your overall content writing business plan. It should be balanced with more consistent ghostwriting jobs.

Hope you enjoy these tips, and feel free to ask more questions about selling PLR below.

I can say for sure that I (as a PLR buyer) prefer ala carte to the membership site model. The main reason is I have no interest in trying to build multiple businesses in multiple niches.

That’s a loosing business model IMHO. It might work now, but it has no real future. So joining a membership site that provides a bunch of random niche packages is not useful to me.

I do belong to one membership site that has PLR in my niche, but even that is not ideal. I only need PLR on occasion right now. I really can’t make use of all of the stuff that keeps pouring in.

    Great stuff Courtney!

Thanks Doug! I appreciate your comments, especially as a PLR buyer. Your reasons for not liking PLR membership sites are exactly the reasons that I decided to offer a la carte packages.

I couldn’t imagine purchasing products in lots of different niches each month, so I wanted to sell PLR just like I buy PLR.

Courtney I am ashamed that I have only just found your blog - it is great.

Your threads about PLR this week have been inspirational and the links to other writing sites invaluable.

    Thank you so much!!

    Dee

Since I’ve been reading your posts on PLR, I’ve been doing a little research on them. I’m starting to see what you mean about it being a good supplement to your writing income. Except one thing. How do you actually deliver it?

Is there a program that allows them to immediately download? Do you email it as an attatchment to whoever buys it?

Great question! I have done both (e-mailed directly and used a third party program). Now I have a program called DL Guard that does it for me, but it’s pricey.

If you have your own web hosting, you can upload the file to your hosting and use the url as your successful payment URL when you set up a paypal “buy” link.

I’ve also read good things about www.digitalgoodsdelivery.com and www.payloadz.com if you don’t have your own webhosting.

That’s absolutely brilliant- the URL bit. I don’t have my own writing site yet, but it’s in the future. Thanks for the information and the links. :)
