Don’t be shy - Crow about your success!

There’s one thing that most creative types share - they feel kind of weird about tooting their own horn. I know personally that I’m a bit of a perfectionist. When I’m done with a project, I’m always focused on the things that I could have done better. Other writers may have problems with self promotion. If writing comes really easy to them, they might not see the value of the service their providing.

So I’m declaring a Toot your Own Horn day at Web Writing Info!

  1. What a great idea courtknee! I started freelancing over a year ago partly to pursue my lifelong love of writing, but also to earn a “few extra dollars.” Imagine my surprise to find out that my earning potential was bigger than I thought, and I’d actually have to turn down work unless I didn’t mind working 80 hours a week!

  2. Here’s my writing success of the week: my blog got syndicated by a major service that aggregates feeds for the media. I’m pretty excited.

What I consider my biggest success, however, is my ongoing relationship with my readers.

  3. Sharon - I’ve had a similar experience! What was just a way to make ends meet has now become a full fledged business!

Charlotte- Congratulations! That is so exciting! And you’re right, developing trust and camaraderie with your readers is a reward in and of itself.

  4. Today I posted on my blog about a client e-mailing me along with his internal staff all excited that they had been given an award in their industry. That he e-mailed me as part of his team felt great because he doesn’t just see me as an outsider/sub contractor. That felt pretty good!
