Why I nominated Sharon Hurley Hall for the Top 10 Writing Blogs of 2007/2008

If you haven’t been yet, please visit Sharon Hurley Hall at Get Paid to Write Online. She was my nomination for the Top 10 Writing Blogs of 2007/2008 and here is why she’s one of my favorite writing bloggers:

*She *gets* the online thing. It’s been frustrating at times to deal with writers who are married to freelancing for offline publications. Their reactions to writing online have wavered from verbal stares down the nose, to outright attacks. It’s good to see another web writer who has tapped into the power of writing online.

*Her writing is spot on. It’s engaging, informative and I always learn something from Sharon’s posts.

*Her posts are always insightful and well thought out. Somedays I barely have time to answer all of my e-mail, and I know that her schedule must be just as full as mine….yet she always manages to write informative posts.

Some of my recent favorites are:

Are All Your Eggs in One Basket?

Is It Time to Quit the Day Job?

Guide to Copyright for Writers

*Her blog layout is nice and clean. Even though she recently changed themes, this new blue and green theme is just as nice as the old black and red one.

*She gives back to her commenters. I love that she gives Link Love to all of the people who comment on her blog on a monthly basis. I know it probably takes a lot of her time, but it’s appreciated and a nice feature.

I’m blushing now … thanks for the great review, Courtnee. It’s true - I love writing web content, although it’s always difficult to explain to people that I’m a writer because they’ve never heard of anywhere that my work has been published.

I got the link love for commenting idea from Jeanne Dininni of Writer’s Notes. Although compiling the list takes time, it’s a good reminder to visit the blogs of people who are new to me if I haven’t already done so. Jeanne recently published a trick that can make it easier to compile the posts.

Forgive me if this sounds too gushy but Sharon Hurley Hall is like a big sister to me. More knowledgeable on the craft than I and very helpful too. She has taught me so much about writing for a living…
I really hope to see her get one of the top spots!

Hooray! I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves her work (of course…I’m sure I’m not since she’s on the list!)
